Richard Newman
Board of Director's - President
Richard Newman is a founding Board Member and President of the Foundation. Richard was born and raised in Louisiana and is a 6th generation New Orleanian. Richard’s great, great Grandfather founded Isadore Newman School in New Orleans. Richard attended Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
After LSU, Richard enjoyed a very successful 20 year career on Wall Street working as a senior executive for well known firms Lehman Brothers, Drexel Burnham and Jefferies & Co. Richard retired from Wall Street at age 50 to spend more time with his family. Richard enjoys the outdoors, golf and is an avid SEC college sports fan.
Richard’s compassion for children, and their families, that are dealing with childhood cancer brought him out of retirement to run the Miracle Children’s Foundation, where the goal is to help with the mental wellbeing of the children that are fighting cancer. Through his son’s fight with brain cancer, Richard and his family felt that gifting Apple iPads to children fighting cancer would help children while they are isolated from family and friends during their fight with cancer.
